Young Enterprise East Midlands seek entrepreneurial Business Champions to guide 15-19 year olds through the experiences of running their own company by becoming volunteer business advisors/mentors on the Company Programme.
Business Champions would be required to attend a two hour session each week at a school within the East Midlands area and work with a group of students who will set up and run a company over the course of one academic year. The group will elect a board of directors from amongst their peers, raise share capital, and market and finance a product or service of their own choice. During their year trading, Young Enterprise companies have the opportunity to participate in local, national, and in some cases international trade fairs where they can sell their products, market their services and so boost their sales and experience. At the end of the year they present a report and accounts to their shareholders.
This programme enables students to gain experience of the real world: understanding how a business works and how wealth and employment are created; team work and improve communications skills; a willingness to take responsibility and initiative; time management skills; key business functions such as marketing, financial management, sales, customer care and personnel managed and being accountable to their shareholders for the running of the business.
If you feel you have the skills and experience to help young people be enterprising or would like further information about this opportunity, then please call Danielle on 0115 9247412 or email danielle.davis@bitc.org.uk
All volunteers will be trained on the programme and will be CRB check at enhanced level.
