2258 - The Young Apprenticeship Programme
Nottinghamshire
NEBA is looking for volunteers to support an academic programme being delivered within schools across Nottinghamshire. The Young Apprenticeship programme programmes offer year 10 students the opportunity to gain an additional academic qualification whilst also acquiring practical skills in a work-based environment over two years.
The Young Apprenticeship Programme has been developed to ensure that the knowledge and skills students gain whilst at school are relevant to the sector. This is achieved through a robust system of employer engagement and support throughout the two years. Students on the programme have been through a rigorous recruitment and selection process to ensure that they are the right candidates for this course of study. They have exhibited the maturity, commitment and academic potential required to succeed and will be supported closely by their individual schools.
Volunteers can get involved by:
• Giving talks and lectures to enrich young people’s learning with real business context
• Setting actual business problems for learners to solve in their premises
• Providing resources, equipment and use of premises to support young learners
• Offer work placements for young people and work shadowing for teachers.
Work experience gives young people a taste of the real ‘world of work’ and can be a learning experience they will never forget! Nottinghamshire Education Business Alliance has a role in ensuring local schools have access to the placements they need and that young people can attend a placement preferably in their chosen business or business sector.
