2301 - Derbyshire Education Business Partnership - Academic Mentors

Business Champions are required to assist the Derbyshire Education Business Partnership (DEBP) as Academic Mentors at Parkside Community School, Chesterfield. This ongoing programme is designed to increase student performance by allowing them the opportunity to meet with successful business people who are able to discuss and support their academic achievements by relating their own experience and communicating business based methods. The programme will be available to 13 and 14 year olds, and the Business Champion will be required to meet with the students for 1 hour per month on a one to one basis. Times are arranged to suit the volunteer. Commitment to a 3 hour training session with the DEBP before commencing is also required. An enhanced CRB check will be carried out for all volunteers to this role.

The Business Champion needs to be a good communicator, with a desire to inspire and motivate young people. Experience working with young people is not essential as training will be provided.
