2334 - Enterprise UK - Start Up: Travel & Tourism Mentors
Regional
Enterprise UK is an organisation borne out of the campaign to promote a culture of enterprise and entrepreneurship. Their vision is of a society where an enterprise culture and entrepreneurial behaviour drive economic prosperity and social cohesion. They aim to give people in the UK the confidence, skills and ambition to be enterprising. They are unveiling their latest campaign in November/December 09, which is aimed at promoting new businesses within the Travel and tourism sector. Start Up: Travel & Tourism is a national competition which asks FE students to develop a business plan for a tourism business. Regional winners will be invited to actually run their business with support from successful entrepreneurs. The programme hopes to inspire learners and develop their enterprise skills, supporting them through the important stages of starting a business.
They require Business Champions to assist by holding inspirational talks at participating colleges and to help students with their entries. They could hold workshops or give inspiring talks and share expertise on business concepts. Entrants will be given advice on Marketing, Researching and Branding their idea during January 10 and on Financial issues during February 10, before submitting their final plan for consideration.
Entries are still coming in from East Midland’s Colleges but Enterprise UK are already looking for support for Leicester College. The time commitment will be flexible, approximately between 1-3 visits to a college, lasting 1.5hrs each. Further information is available, and if you are interested in supporting, please contact Danielle on 0115 9247412, or email danielle.davis@bitc.org.uk
